On Sunday, July 16, the first episode of the “Game of Thrones” was released. The producers of the series are definitely pleased – the episode has attracted a record 16.1 million viewers, with 10 million watching TV and the rest by streaming services, Variety reports.
The increase for the first episode of the sixth season is 50%, given that it was even broadcast in the spring when the TV audience is traditionally higher.
The current series is also the most watched premiere in HBO’s history.
“Game on Thrones” is undoubtedly the most popular series in the world in recent years. Interestingly, unlike other series, with each passing season it increases and does not reduce its audience.
The first episode of the seventh season was also the one in connection with which the record 2.4 million tweets were published. Only the appearance of singer Ed Shireron in one of the scenes is “responsible” for 7% of social networking posts. Some of the most cited references are: “Winter is here.”, “The North Remembers,” “Leave a Wolf Alive, and the Sheep Will Never Be Safe.”
