Аttachment of families to the kitchen has always been connected with feeding and for longer day stay in the apartment. While in the past they have reconciliation in a common area, today the specialization of the rooms give life to the separate kitchen, the dining room and living room. This created qualitatively new problems.
In the past the common room they carve corners of the main types of activities (cooking, eating and daily residence), and today is looking good functional relationship between the three specialized areas. Observations show, however, that in many cases these connections are not provided as a result of which the residents are forced to accept some obvious compromises the operation.
When the missing link between the dining room and the living room, the dining room usually becomes a “living” and takes part of its core functions, and when the kitchen has even limited dining and there is no direct link between it and the living room, residents often stay for long in kitchen and she takes undeserved functions of the living room.
So sometimes some signs of “low consumer culture” are actually only due to inconsistencies in the layout of homes and residents are just trying to adapt to them. Indeed, how can in the kitchen with minimum dining to achieve that desired cozy home atmosphere that requires general nutrition or prolonged stay in the family? Obviously, small kitchen requires serious compromises and despite its functional excellence it is awkward and socially irrational psychological sense.
What can be the outcome?
First of all – in the search for ways and means of spatial multiplexing kitchen to other rooms of the collective area. Of course, this is not always possible. Too often, the kitchen is separated from the living room to other rooms (most with antechambers and corridors).
Then decisions can be sought only in the rational organization of space itself kitchen, which, albeit with compromises must provide maximum opportunities for comfort and convenience.
